Time Management Tips for CLAT preparation
It is rightly said that time and tide waits for none. Those, who understand the value of time, manage to stand apart from the crowed. Effective time management plays a pivotal role by augmenting your productivity. It helps tasks seem less daunting and keeps you organized. Managing your time well boosts self-confidence, helps set priorities and reduces stress level. Apart from that, it also helps you make the best use of the available time, thereby leaving time for recreational activities.
So, with the CLAT exam season beginning soon, proper utilisation of the time is extremely important. Here are some tips that will help you manage your time well by enhancing your time management skills.
It’s about the balance
Strike a balance between the preparation for boards and CLAT and other Law entrance exams. Plans your time strategically so that you can give enough time to both. You can pen down the syllabus for both and start revising the common topics first. Once you are done with it, dedicate time to other topics. It is advisable though to cover the topics with more weightage first.
Get organized
With too much syllabus to revise and too little time, it’s better to get organized. Make a time-table subject-wise proper distribution of chapters according to their weightage in CLAT and other Law entrance exams. This not only ensures effective management of time but also disciplined preparation. Know the chapters which have the highest weightage and concentrate more on such topics. Aim to finish the most important and longer chapters first since they consume most of your time. While revising your chapters, also revise what you have already learned so that your mind can retain it for longer. Apart from that, dedicate time to solving at least one mock test a day.
Additionally, making a to-do list can help you stay focussed on the most important things. Try to make this list a night before and keep it in front of your eyes when you study. Also make sure your time-table allows you enough breaks in between. A five-minute break after an hour of study can help refresh the mind and result in productive learning.
Focus
There would be distractions and there would be time when the pressure to perform might overtake you but don’t lose your focus. It’s your focussed attitude that can turn the tables for you and help you achieve more in less time. A focussed approach leads to better productivity and helps you Cracking the CLAT.
Avoid too many books
It is rightly said that too many books spoil the broth. Similarly, studying from too many books is not only time consuming but also exhausting and confusing. With the clock ticking fast, it’s better to channelize your energy and time wisely. Therefore, read from limited books, may be, just one or two and devote more time to practising quality questions.
Solve previous years question papers & mock test
Solving previous year CLAT question papers not only familiarizes you with the exam pattern, types of questions asked, difficulty level, etc. but also helps enhance your speed and accuracy. You can evaluate your level of preparation; determine the time spent on each question and work on your speed and accuracy. Make sure you solve full-length CLAT mock tests and preferably in a proctored environment. This will not only help you evaluate your preparation but also boost your confidence level. Moreover, solving mock tests helps you to analyze and identify the errors committed and work on it. Mock tests also help you to evaluate the time spent on each section and structure is accordingly.
Practice
It cannot be denied that practice makes a man perfect. So, practice as many questions as possible and of all possible varieties. Set a timer while doing so in order to keep track of your speed. This will help you assess how much time you take to solve a question and thereby devise a strategy to improve on it. Competitive exams like CLAT and AILET are all about speed and accuracy and practising more and more mock tests can help you with it.
Devise an exam strategy
One of the important steps to manage your time is by devising an exam strategy well in advance. A sound strategy will not only help you get maximum answers right but also help you complete the paper in time. It is, thus, advised to attempt the section that you are most confident about first.
